DropSaver™ Lids for ADE – Custom DropSaver™ Lids for use with ADE systems (Acoustic Drop Ejection)
Special high-tolerance DropSaver™ Lids are excellent for protecting the nano-sized drops used in ADE populated experiments.

Developed in collaboration with Dr. Alexei Soares of Brookhaven National Labs DropSaver Lids

In combination with custom DropSaver™ Lids, ADE devices can be used to populate plates with ultra-small protein droplets, up to 1728 per plate! ^[2]

Reduce evaporation during filling Even with a robot, chances are that your first drops are evaporating measurably before your last drop is set and your plate is sealed. DropSaver™ lids protect your protein drops from ambient air motion that leads to rapid evaporation during the plate loading process
Aid in consistent drop placement Consistent and easy drop setting, especially valuable to when hand displacers are used	as high as 90% reduction in evaporation rates when using DropSaver™ Lids^[1]

Can I just 3D print my own lids?

Yes you can. In fact some prototype and early stage DropSaver™ Lids were made using 3D printing techniques. However these provide to be inferior in regards to uniformity, alignment; and most critically, vapor transmission and evaporation rates. For this reason MiTeGen provides DropSaver™ Lids that are micro-machined in low-permeability molded polystyrene.
